Giving Tree plague at the Royal Papworth Hospital
Giving Bird Plaque at Royal Papworth Hospital

A Giving Bird plaque was added to the Royal Papworth Hospital Giving Tree in November 2019, in recognition of the contribution made by the Papworth Hospital Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group.

The Support Group used funds raised to purchase a new specialised item of equipment, called a pulse oximeter, for the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Clinic. A pulse oximeter measures blood Oxygen saturation levels, they are vital items of equipment used to monitor the lung function of ILD patients.

The pulse oximeter was presented to the ILD Specialist Respiratory Nurse, Katie Harding, at our regular support group meeting on 8th November 2019. The ILD team expressed their gratitude for the donation and have since reported that the pulse oximeter is being used daily in the clinic and has made a significant impact on patient management.

Jo Cornish (Chair), Katie Harding (Specialist Respiratory Nurse), Howard Wright (Treasurer)
